dude, just at mj was a musical icon, Steve Martin is a comedy icon. and he was picked for the skit by the writers of SNL, its not like he was like “hey you know what?lets make fun of michael jackson today…”

if anything, imitation is a pretty great form of flattery. how does this make fun of mj at all anyway?

Lesser stars? Dude, Steve Martin is not some small name, and the parody is not always supposed to be making fun of Michael Jackson.

    Got it. This is …
Got it. This is what I read.. Steve Martin performed a remarkably accurate parody of Michael Jackson’s moves from the “Billie Jean” music video on The New Show, a sketch comedy series created by SNL’s Lorne Michaels that aired for only three months in 1984.

This was from a skit on Saturday Night live for 83-84 season. Steve Martin isn’t suddenly trying to *cash in* on Michael Jackson’s death. I watched this my Junior year in college, and I’m 47.

This is the type of …
This is the type of joy Mike’s talent generated. So many – including comic geniuses like Steve – had great fun imitating The Moves. People who are upset at this need sympathy – not realizing this clip was done when Billie Jean was new back in the 80s.
