Thank you very much … Thank you very much for getting back to me. I’ll search for those tracks Zappafan1980.
I’ve also heard good things about tinseltown rebellion, but I’ll definitly look into buying Apostrophe at some stage. I’ve tried to play some of his music on my guitar and I can just about play ‘I am the slime’, but nowhere near his level. The man was a creative genius.
Hi! lomasloco70 … Hi! lomasloco70 here! The original studio version of Zomby Woof was recorded in the “Over Nite Sensation” album, (but you may already know that for sure). I’m a ZapHead myself, and asked adamisgood36, (another Youtube channeler) to post the rest of the album. Jean-Luc Ponty plays with The Mothers in that album! Can you figure? Peace!
There has to be a … There has to be a greatest hits if not an anthologhy out. I would start there. Of course gems will slip by but you will get the essentials. Tom has great referances.
“Get a Little” is a … “Get a Little” is a nice guitar instrumental recorded at The Factory(1967) and heard on “Weasels Ripped My Flesh”. As an aside, between two shows (1977) at The Leroy Concert Theatre in Pawtucket, RI, I was taking a and who comes in but this bass player from the video. We said “hi” while enjoying those chest-high urinals that Pawtucket was famous for. AHHHhhhh.
I’m quite new to … I’m quite new to most of franks stuff, with him having 80+ albums out there’s still a lot for me to listen to. Is there any compositions of his you’d recomend?
BTW, thanks for replying. And I do think it was a clever trick of Frank’s to keep his live sets a mystery to the band, that way they’d have to practice everything to a good standard.
Thanks for replying … Thanks for replying Tomtiddler.
I’m an aspiring guitarist, but you could say that I follow franks example because I learned to play drums first, and still do. I absolutely love the sheer musicianship required for franks compositions.
Could you suggest any other of his songs to look at. I know of “zomby woof” but the only version I’ve heard is the Zappa Plays Zappa version, I’d like to expand my horizon, and Frank’s band was called the mothers of invention for a reason.
Zappa released 2 … Zappa released 2 volumes recorded by the LSO, and as you quite rightly say was not 100% happy with the result, however he was the ultimate perfectionist when it came to his work, he couldn’t actually afford the huge costs of running the orchestra and releasing albums again, so he released what maybe he thought of as the best of a bad bunch! I still love those albums and Orchestral Favorites
Frank was one of … Frank was one of the most intense musicians on the planet, and this is one of his best pieces, I love it!
Side fact: Frank zappa once hired either the londonsymphony orchestra or the hungarian symphony orchestra to play some his music he wrote(bearing in mind that these are world-class musicians). When Frank was interviewed to see how well he thought they did, he replied “they did 70% at best”, his music was so hard to play that even they could do it.
First, you would … First, you would have thought that Don Pardo would have said “That’s right folks, don’t touch that dial!” cause on the album, it’s said by an announcer, like Don Pardo. Second, who’s drumming on this, is that Terry Bozzio?
Amen 12Jetdiver55 … Amen 12Jetdiver55 most everthing nowdays is crap they just don’t make cool stuff any more just rap crap , i can’t wait ’till it blows away like disco did ! two

I’ve been fortunate enough to guest (guitar) w/ a coupla’ ex-bandmembers (they’re not on this tape- Napolean Murphy Brock, Don Preston & Ike Willis).
Thank God for YT.
