Why is Saturday Night Live so bad now? When did it start getting terrible?

When Did SNL become so unfunny, it was unwatchable? When did Saturday Night live start dropping in qaulity?
this isnt the first time snl goes into a bad slump. no one rememeber the very revolving door cast between chase, murphy, akroid era to spade, farley, sandler….then came norm macdonald who is in a category of his own…then cheri oteri and ferrell and sanz…i like chris parnell . i use to like early jimmy fallon.
i think andy samberg is a tool and overrated. fred armisen is great and probably the only good thing on there.
plus the writers suck. it was funny before because conan o brien used to write tons of skits for them.

No kidding! It is absoloutly horrible! I can't say exactly when it got bad, but ever since the late 90's to early 2000's I started seeing a decline.

SNL became unfunny quite some time ago, as the comedy team has changed many times over…Saturday Night Live has been on the air for close to 35 years; far longer than the average life expectancy of a television show. Perhaps it is one of the reasons NBC rates the lowest in network television…

When every other skit basically included nasty trashy content. They still do good on the political skits, but even those can get trashy at times. Trashy is just not funny to most people, except really young immature teenagers or older immature adults.

Honestly, this weeks show was the worst I have ever seen!! The unbearable breaks between every small, unfunny skit to cut to commercial was torture!! The untalented actors trying to hard to be funny was hard to watch as they cringed to remember their lines, cursed on live television and rotated skits between the same two unfunny actors. I love this show, I fight for the remote with my husband to watch this show and this..this was just bad bad television. And the music guest, U2, what happened there, why did we have to watch them sooo many times also trying so very hard to put on a drama fest of bad music…what happened to the old U2 I love, was the energy just so bad on set during the week that it carried off to them?? Please, I beg of you, use your staff..ALL of them to put together a multitude of funny skits, please, I beg of you, do not cut to commercial every three minutes like a sold out chump, and please please TRY to be funny!!!

The sign a show is going to hell is when the writers start putting in little song and dance numbers. Every show has a musical skit in it now and they are awful.
